A Personality-Filled Powder Room

A bold and expressive powder room designed to surprise and delight.

In contrast to the home’s calm and neutral palette, this space was conceived as a vibrant, personality-filled retreat - a place where design could be playful without compromising on craftsmanship. The client’s love of Kate Moss inspired the concept, centred around a Mario Testino photograph that had long been unframed and unseen. We gave it new life by float-mounting and framing it as the focal point, designing the entire room around its energy and attitude.

The space captures a sense of curated rebellion. A dark bronze-framed mirror, appearing to hover against the tiled wall, reinforces the gallery aesthetic, while a custom Volker Haug light and matching bronze tapware provide cohesion and depth. The height of the soft green tiles allows the room to feel light and open, while showcasing the craftsmanship in the tiling details around the window.

A floating vanity, finished in textural stone and lightly grained timber veneer, grounds the space with warmth and texture. Subtle horizontal grain lines and refined shadow details enhance the illusion of suspension, drawing the eye effortlessly across the room.

The result is a small but striking space - rich in texture, personality, and thoughtful detail - that perfectly balances elegance, artistry, and individuality.
